The IMDA – Providing the voice and support for independent motor dealers

The Independent Motor Dealers Association was formed to represent, support and to become ‘the voice’ of the Independent Motor Dealers both non-franchised and franchised here in the UK. Their role is to help prevent the well documented prediction that 1 in 5 Independent Dealers will go out of business within the next 5 years. Through the IMDA’s support, recognition and buying power they will help guide dealers through the complex areas of Compliance, Legislation and Employment Law and help you gain a competitive edge with Exclusive Offers through our comprehensive Approved and vetted Supplier list, by gaining better value for money.

Why Glass’s has joined

"Glass’s has joined the IMDA to support, and engage with, those who remain at the heart of the industry. While others diversify and squeeze even more from dealers’ ever shrinking margins, our mission remains the same - to provide independent, impartial and accurate valuations, data and insight to the automotive industry. We only provide valuations to the trade. And we’ll never tell you if your stock is a ‘good price’ or ‘priced low’. We will just provide you with the information you need to make the best decisions for YOUR business, region and selling strategy. We are now better positioned than ever to provide independent dealers with a viable choice. The IMDA gives us the opportunity to do this, and get feedback from dealers about how we can help them now and into the future." Sally Wilson, Country Manager, Glass’s

Best Practice Masterclasses

Hot on the heels of the first best practice seminar held in Birmingham in June, the IMDA has two more dates scheduled in Watford (5th July) and Perth (14th August).

This highly charged event is designed especially for the independent dealer. During this Masterclass you will learn how to 'Maximise Profitability' by gaining insights into who your customers are, sharing what works and what doesn't.

Here’s what attendees to the first Masterclass had to say:

You will come away from the day with a better understanding of how to measure your business, leads and success, allowing you to take action and make decisions in your business that will help drive down cost at the same time as ensuring you thrive as an independent dealer.

Places are strictly limited and only available to IMDA Members. Do not miss out on what will be a fun, action packed 'hands-on' day of discovering best practice by registering with the IMDA for free here.

Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) writes Best Practice leaflet on Advertising exclusively for the IMDA.

Guidance put together by the ASA exclusively for IMDA members, this guidance offers some general principles to bear in mind in the spirit of best practice. It is intended to help IMDA Members comply with the CAP Code and understand the ASA’s positions on some of the most common themes present in the advertising of motor vehicles.
