To work with Auto Trader to integrate Glass’s identification, technical and specification data, replacing the incumbent supplier.
Auto Trader wanted to overhaul the user experience of autotrader.co.uk and its products, to give users a more engaging experience and enhanced way of searching for vehicles. To achieve this they needed a key strategic partner which they were confident Glass's would be.
The project touched every part of their business. Every product. Every client. It was a huge undertaking and required maximum effort from both parties to guarantee success.
With so many stakeholders involved, organisational process flows and project milestones were created to manage the transition. A ‘control room’ was set up in Auto Trader’s Manchester office which became the hub of all project activity due to the scale of the operation involved which touched on around 300 technology staff.
Working on projects of this magnitude requires a clear partnership approach and not one of client and supplier. Our team spent a lot of time in Auto Trader’s offices, and not just because the coffee is better.
The team’s relationship with their contemporaries at Auto Trader was vital to the success of the project; Auto Trader knew the bits of information they wanted, we knew the quickest and easiest way to deliver it to them. When Auto Trader needed access to data sets that weren’t already available, we made them available and accessible within moments of the request.
This collaborative approach was what truly made the project a success. The best news? The enrichment and enhancement is planned to continue.
